Hi there! My name is Kendall Thompson, I'm 22 years old, and I'm from Baytown, Texas. This is also where my studio is currently located. My mom put me in my first pageant when I was a baby and we were hooked. We did pageants for the first 5 years of my life like a full time job. After that I got really into dance and stopped pageants for a long time. In January of 2003 I came back to pageants and started teaching and doing h/m under the name Kendall's Queens & Kings. Pageanting can be so much fun, it is about the kids and family time together. I firmly believe this because pageanting has always been special "mommy and me" time, from when I was little to even now! A big girl still needs her mommy! I enjoy passing on the wonderful experience and experiences I have gained through pageants along to my students. I will teach anyone who wants to learn. I keep my prices affordable so that everyone can afford to have that little extra help. I have helped make winners on the local, state, and national levels for both Glitz and Natural pageants. I enjoy each day given to me with the kids, for they are so special! Training: Dance - Cheryls Dance Studio (Baytown, Texas) *11 years training *Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Pointe, Hip Hop *3 years on Competition Team *2 Years in Invitation Only Sr. Class - The Dance Center (Mont Belview, Texas) *1 Semester on Competition Hip Hop Team - STEPS Performing Arts Center Member of the No Boundaries Dance Company *Level 3/4 Tap *Level 2 Jazz, Lyrical/Modern & Ballet Jumps & Turns, Flexabillity, and Ballet Tech Beginning in the Fall of 2007 I will begin my first year with one of the top ranked dance companies in the state, No Boundries, from STEPS Performing Arts Center! Cosmetology: - The Baytown Little Theatre (Baytown, Texas) *3 years of stage/theatrical makeup training by the hair/makeup "goddess" Frances Pool. - Lee College Theatre Players (Baytown, Texas) *1 year as resident hair/makeup artist *Principals of Theatrical Makeup - 1 Semester (Only A in the class!) Professional Modeling: - Neal Hammil's Mayo Hill Modeling School (Houston, Texas) *1 year of runway and commercial training. Some of my phillosophies on pageanting: - I will never put gymnastics moves in any pageant routine unless it is a talent. Pro-am should be about modeling and I stick to this. Stages are dangerous and I dont want any child getting hurt. -I will not make a routine too hard for any child to perform. I feel personally, as a former judge, that a simple routine done clean with lots of personality is much more impressive and fun to watch, than a routine too difficult for the child and is performed slopily. This comes from my dance background. - Each child deserves a chance at a crown, and I do not play favorites! However, it cant be done alone. Practicing at home makes a big difference! I can only do so much in the hour I have your child. Practice really does make perfect! - I feel children should be rewarded for their good deeds, so that they know what they have done right. I always carry extra goodies with me and reward the children for a job well done, no matter how good or "bad" they behaved in their lesson. -I believe in being upfront with people. If you are working with me, know now you are working with honesty. Know that you can always come to me if you have any questions or concerns. This is not just a business, and you are not just another client to me. I want each child and family to feel special while involved in the pageant community.
